Hello, everyone!
My friend Ig (from Oh My God - or one of the best bands you'll ever hear, in my opinion) wanted me to update this, so I am. It's been a long long while since I wrote in here for the band, but the update is this: everytime i try and plan out time to sit and record the demos for the album, something always comes up! It's ridiculous. (The major delay was getting through surgery in February and having to push back work. Then there were the shows that I was invited to play at, but then those fell out. And might I add looking for more people to play with was a pain in the ass? I got one response from a guy who just wanted "to jam" and ignored the fact that the Craigslist ad I placed said "I need band members who are not only willing to form a band, but PLAY LIVE and RECORD SONGS!" So frustrating. But when the time comes for the band, the time comes. And I have said that solo or not, there was gonna be an album!)
So for those that can't wait, I have put up the ENTIRE EP Force The Collapse for download for those that aren't in Lansing and can't get a physical copy for themselves! You can also add Hello, Autumn on virb.com (which is a cool design-based Myspace clone!) as a friend and show love. That would be totally cool, but it's important to know you can stream/download/obsess about the EP.
As for new material, songs that I have written are more angry and bitter about breakups I had in the past. (Most notably, the two ex-crushes I had. I'm too weird to have proper boyfriends!) Songs include "Snapfish" and "Fake It 'Till You Make It" and the lyrics are downright sad, mean, and crazy. It'll be a blast when I get to sit down and record. I hope that something good happens that will allow me the time to pick up my (long-neglected) guitar and start playing.
And for those who missed it a while ago, Hello, Autumn was featured on Largehearted Boy! (one of my favorite blogs and daily reads!) This was around the time that I was on vacation - I went to North Carolina and Washington D.C. for a show - and I never got around to saying Thanks! So now I am! :)
For those of you who want to keep up with non-Hello, Autumn musings, feel free to visit my personal myspace and send me a message so I can add you and you can keep up with my often-updated my myspace blog! (Both are private and friends only for a reason. Being private/friends only is the new pink. Didn't you know?) I also have another VOX, but it's not as updated as it should be. And I like myspace better. Sorry. (Of course, if you haven't yet, here's Hello, Autumn's myspace too! Add it. Comment. Show love. Repeat!)
Enjoy your Saturday. And better yet, if you're in the U.S., enjoy the holiday weekend! If you're overseas, just take the day off on Monday. All the cool kids are doing it!
peace and love,
bethanne / hello, autumn
It was bound to happen anyway. I decided to turn this from a personal vox blog to a band vox blog. (If you choose not to have this blog on your vox page, feel free to remove!)
For those that don't know, here's the biography of the band:
Kid-tested, WFMU-approved.
In the spring of 2006, Lansing, Michigan singer-songwriter Bethanne Siettas had the season’s antithesis — fallen, decaying leaves, warm colors and countless life challenges — in mind. Hello, Autumn became the vehicle for the outpourings of 27-year-old poetry fanatic Siettas’ thoughtful mind and creative heart via intimate guitar riffs and intense lyrics. Armed with an acoustic guitar, laptop, a small studio apartment and frustrated neighbors, Hello, Autumn evokes relatable human emotions — from happiness and sadness to joy and pain. Hello, Autumn’s seven-track DIY-influenced EP, Force the Collapse, captures the tumultuous feelings produced by unrequited love through tracks including “Flirt,” a tale of socializing at the bar, while recent songs like “Over the Moon,” a story of intense heartache, break through the perception of love being comfortable and perfect. Inspired by artists including Neutral Milk Hotel, Cat Power, Kimya Dawson, Tilly And The Wall, Jenny Lewis, Azure Ray, and Cursive, Siettas took her act to the stage in support of voter awareness for her first concert at Oade’s Hidden Camel before the 2006 election and plans to continue performing at open-mic nights in her hometown of Lansing. Thriving on interpersonal connections, support from friends and fans and the ecstasy and peril of everyday life, Hello, Autumn continues to evolve from the rawness of homemade demos towards aspirations of a full-fledged band while keeping supporters close to the heart. Siettas plans a full-length album for release in late 2007, solo or not.

This blog will be used to update all of you on the debut album (which will be worked on starting in May) and shows that are upcoming. Also, all band members (besides me (bethanne), of course!) will be posting here from time to time when the band comes together. But for now, it's me. And if I have anything of value to say, it'll be said here.
Until then, stay tuned. (And sorry to those I had on my neighborhood here before!)
peace and love,
bethanne / hello, autumn
